About The SPA

sask_physio_23The Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association Inc. (SPA) is the provincial professional association representing over 400 member physical therapists in Saskatchewan. SPA is one of 10 provincial branches and 2 territorial councils of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).

The mandate of the Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association Inc. is to advance the delivery of physiotherapy services by promoting excellence in education, research and clinical practice.

The SPA keeps members informed of current issues, professional development opportunities, and advancements in the physiotherapy profession in Saskatchewan. The Association also responds to requests for information from members and non-members, participates in consultation and advocacy activities with government and other stakeholders on behalf of the profession, and promotes the physiotherapy profession in general.

Membership is open to physiotherapists living in Saskatchewan who meet eligibility criteria and pay annual dues.

The Canadian Physiotherapy Association is the National Body and has several position statements available on the CPA website.

The Canadian Physiotherapy Association position statements address political, ethical and social issues that affect patient welfare, the role and practice of physiotherapy, the Association and its members.

New Position Statements for 2014

Access to Physiotherapy for Aboriginal Peoples in Canada is a background paper to provide an overview of the health status of Canada’s Aboriginal peoples and the role for physiotherapy in their health care. It is a companion document to the 2014 CPA position statement,The Role of Physiotherapy in Aboriginal Health Care. It is a living document, and is intended to serve as a resource for subsequent initiatives.
