Cathy Arnold Appointed as Director of PT January 2018
Congratulations to Dr. Cathy Arnold who will assume the position of Director Physical Therapy at the University of Saskatchewan as of January 2018.
Cathy is well known in the PT community as a high quality researcher, educator and dedicated clinician. She is a proud member of the U of S B.Sc PT Class of 1984 and subsequently attained her MSc and PhD degrees.
She joined the U of S as a PT faculty member in 1997 and achieved the award of full professor in 2011. For the past 20 years she has been an outstanding faculty member leading and participating in all aspects of the Physical Therapy program including chair or a member of most committees including admissions, academic affairs, awards and curriculum.
Cathy is recognized nationally and internationally for her research experience and leadership in areas such as: falls and fall prevention, musculo-skeletal health, functional evaluation and exercise in osteoporosis. She collaborates with a variety of health science colleagues in Saskatchewan and contributes to improvements in the quality of life of our patients and communities.
In her role as Director of Physical Therapy she will lead and support students, faculty and staff with specific attention to organization, delivery and accreditation of the Masters of Physical Therapy MPT) program. We are proud of Cathy’s achievements to date and know that her leadership will contribute our ongoing commitment to high quality education for physical therapists and advancement of research and scholarship of our faculty and students.

Sask winter games: North Battleford
Looking for: PT support at venues during daytime mostly. Only venue running into evening is hockey, also looking for any kins/PT’s/Students for taping that will occur mostly in the morning hours at one location.
Medical team will also include Physicians, EMT, RMT, so will be a great experience for managing and treating these athletes.
We will provide a taping refresher with date TBA for those that do not tape frequently or would like a refresher and then would feel comfortable.
SPA have been working to promote mentorship opportunities with SWITCH (Student Wellness Initiative Towards Community Health). SPA member and SWITCH mentor, Lacey Nairn Pederson helped us create a video discussing the benefits of serving at SWITCH as a physiotherapist mentor. This video can now be found on our YouTube page and on our SWITCH partnership page.
