Program Clinical Specialist Coordinator

Primary Purpose: To support the planning and delivery of a high quality Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program. 

The primary dimensions associated with this position are in the areas of:  

1) MPT clinical teaching and support of faculty in the development and implementation of high quality curriculum

2) program development and delivery. 

The position works independently, as part of an administrative team and in close collaboration with the Director, Associate Dean and faculty. 


Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director of Physical Therapy this position supports the MPT program with special emphasis on contributions to MPT professional practice teaching; assists the Director, faculty members and staff in MPT course and program planning including delegated academic and committee duties, works closely with the administrative team and provides direction/guidance in academic areas requiring input of a clinical specialist.  


MPT Clinical Teaching/Course Coordination:

  • Works with the Director to coordinate and deliver delegated MPT clinical teaching and learning activities.
  • Supports PT faculty and students in the delivery of high quality MPT programming with a focus on enhancing teaching effectiveness, interprofessional education, and clinical competency evaluation.


PT Program and School Admin related (including committees):

  • Works with the Director to support MPT program planning and academic administration.
  • Provides administrative support to faculty, students and staff in areas requiring clinical practice specialization.
  • Works with other health professional units and staff members to support collaborative practice teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Leads key MPT projects as determined by the Director and in collaboration with other faculty and staff.
  • Works with the Associate Dean to develop and co-ordinate donor and award activities.

Education: Entry to practice Physical Therapy degree.  A recognized post-professional certification/degree (related to education, health care or PT professional practice) would be an asset.

Licenses or Certificates:  Current licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists; member in good standing of the professional association (Canadian Physiotherapy Association) and Physical Therapy Professional Liability insurance.



  • A minimum of 5 years of Physical Therapy clinical experience in healthcare.
  • Interprofessional collaborative practice experience.
  • Experience in university physical therapy and/or rehabilitation professional teaching.
  • Experience facilitating groups, planning, coordinating and evaluating courses/programs.
  • Project management and/or program administration experience in healthcare and/or education settings.
  • Experience in physical therapy leadership positions and/or activities would be an asset.


Skills: Demonstrated Physical Therapy clinical expertise, effective interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to adapt to change, organize work, set priorities, and work as part of a team; ability to show initiative; ability to work on multiple projects, in a diverse environment and to meet deadlines; self-motivated; ability to problem-solve effectively in an independent manner with excellent organizational and analytical skills, and computer literacy (Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word).
