RGH is a progressive metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds and this beautiful facility has never lost its community feel. As a member of the Allied Health team, the Physiotherapist will be adaptable and open to the continuous changes that occur in an acute care setting. The environment can be challenging and fast-paced, so we are looking for a clinician that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work cohesively in an inter-disciplinary setting. Additionally you will be effective in time management and demonstrate professional initiative. As the successful incumbent you will also be a critical thinker with the ability to work autonomously, demonstrate compassion and empathy, and have a focus on Patient and Family Centered care.

As a Physiotherapist I, you will be working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing a range of physiotherapy services to patients and families within the established standards, directives and policies for the work environment and the profession. These services include: assessment/screening, development of customized goals and treatment plans for therapeutic interventions, delivery of therapeutic interventions, education, discharge planning and follow-up to enable patients to achieve optimum function and independence.
As a Physiotherapist I, you will include patients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will be an integral member of our team through provision of guidance to other healthcare professionals and clinical direction to therapy assistants, support personnel and students. You will be reviewing clinical referrals, screening and assessing client needs from a physiotherapy perspective in collaboration with other health disciplines as appropriate. You will be developing, planning and implementing physiotherapy services in cooperation with other disciplines in the hospital and community, and establishing and maintaining effective communication with colleagues, medical staff, and health care practitioners concerning treatment plans, progress and discharge. You will be participating in client, family and caregiver education in collaboration with other disciplines, producing and maintaining information, documentation and verbal reports to support the delivery of physiotherapy services. You will maintain a practice knowledge base including knowledge specific to the defined service area, relevant services and resources and regulatory college standards and requirements.
