The Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association Inc. (SPA) is the provincial professional association representing over 700 member physical therapists in Saskatchewan. SPA is one of 10 provincial branches and 2 territorial councils of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).

The mandate of the Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association Inc. is to advance the delivery of physiotherapy services by promoting excellence in education, research and clinical practice.

• Represent, advance and promote the physiotherapy profession in Saskatchewan;
• Advocate for equitable access to physiotherapy; and
• Cultivate excellence and innovation in practice, education and research.

SPA Strategic Plan

The board remains committed to advancing the 2024-2027 strategic plan, which focuses on four (4) key pillars:

1. Increase Equitable Access to Physiotherapy: We recognize the importance of ensuring that physiotherapy services are accessible to all individuals in our community, regardless of their background or circumstances.
2. Strengthen the Voice and Value of Physiotherapy: Advocating for the recognition and appreciation of physiotherapy’s crucial role in healthcare remains paramount to our agenda.
3. Increase Public Awareness and Understanding: Educating the public about the benefits of physiotherapy and the various modes of access available is essential for fostering a healthier society.
4. Strengthen the Effectiveness of the Association: Continuously enhancing the efficiency and efficacy of our organization allows us to better serve our members and fulfill our mission.

Our Role

As a provincial branch of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), the Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Association (SPA) serves as the voice and advocate for physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and PT/PTA students all across Saskatchewan. We are a dynamic healthcare professional organization with over 700 members.

The SPA keeps members informed of current issues, professional development opportunities, and advancements in the physiotherapy profession in Saskatchewan. The Association also responds to requests for information from members and non-members, participates in consultation and advocacy activities with government and other stakeholders on behalf of the profession, and promotes the physiotherapy profession in general.

Membership is open to physiotherapists living in Saskatchewan who meet eligibility criteria and pay annual dues.
