Key Responsibilities

While this position is currently a casual full-time position we are seeking a candidate interested in a long-term commitment to the Regina PoliceService.

Under the direction of the Manager, Integrated Health & Wellness, and coordinated by the Integrated Health & Wellness Physiotherapist this position is responsible to provide physiotherapy assessment, treatment and consultation services to the members of Regina Police Service. This position will improve or restore physical functioning and mobility, enhance wellness of the whole person through proactive programming and to improve the longevity and quality of life for all of our employees.

1. Assess clients’ physical abilities through evaluative procedures such as biomechanical screens and diagnostic procedures to identify the client’s condition and cause of injury or illness.
2. Provide physiotherapy treatment of acute injuries and maintenance treatment of employees.
3. Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment programs utilizing most effective combination of procedures, equipment, and related services.
4. Develop and implement therapeutic exercise, plans and progressions.
5. Communicate with other related health care professionals and applicable agencies (ie WCB/SGI) regarding the clients’ status and progress.
6. Maintain clinical and statistical records.
7. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and modify accordingly.
8. Assist in the implementation of organizational and employee education regarding management and prevention strategies to enhance productivity and improve employee longevity.
9. Assist in the implementation of sleep programming for employees with irregular shifting.
10. Provide input and conduct ergonomic evaluations in regards to vehicles, police equipment, and work stations.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary:  $39.94 – $51.64 per hour

1. Graduate from an accredited or approved university Physiotherapy program and eligible for and maintains licensure to practice as a Physiotherapist in theprovince of Saskatchewan.
2. Minimum of one (1) year of experience practicing physiotherapy in a progressive work environment. Experience working with members in a public safety occupation would be an asset.
3. Eligible for and maintains membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
4. Currently has or is able to receive WCB/SGI accreditation to provide primary and/or secondary treatment.
5. The incumbent must be skilled in the ability in the assessment, identification and treatment of clients in varying ages and diagnosis and have a high level of independence of function.
6. Demonstrate responsible decision making through applicable knowledge, critical thinking, and sound clinical, ethical, and legal practice.
7. The successful candidate will be innovative in integrating diverse knowledge areas into new methodologies and will demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment.
8. In addition, to be successful, the candidate will be required to pass the Regina Police Service security clearance process.
