As the Government of Saskatchewan has included physiotherapy in Phase 1 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, physiotherapists are ethically bound to ensure that they take all possible steps to reduce the risks of transmission while ensuring a safe and responsible level of care and service provision. Of particular concern is access to appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) that meets the provincial guidelines. In order to ensure that physiotherapists meet the needs of the people of Saskatchewan safely and effectively, SPA has expressed our concerns about access to PPE to Premier Scott Moe and Minister of Health Jim Reiter, and have called on the government to take steps to ensure essential health care providers have access to appropriate PPE. ACTION YOU CAN TAKE: While we continue to work with the government to ensure the needs of physiotherapists are considered, we are asking for your help in getting the message across to government representatives.
Please send this letter to your Member of Legislative Assembly and copy the Minister of Health and the Premier of Saskatchewan in your email. This will help make sure our concerns about accessing appropriate PPE will reach local representatives and those ultimately responsible for ensuring front line essential health care providers are protected as they serve the public.
